The King and his son have come to see the latest addition to the palace menagerie - a rhinoceros
Later on in the day the King had a meeting to inspect and approve the plans for a new class of river galleys to help protect trade on the lower reaches of the river Oudear from potential Begovian aggression.

A splendid addition to menagerie indeed. I wonder if the King has ever seen illustrations of 17/18th century Swiss galleys on the lakes. They are spectacular and just the sort of vessel to use as inspiration.

Excellent!
A while back I read a book about a rhinoceros named Clara that was brought to Europe around this time period and taken on tour. It was a true story and rather interesting. She was quite a sensation at the time, and inspired quite a few pieces of art (paintings, etchings, porcelain figures, etc.).
River galleys would be most useful!
Awesome! The attention to detail is just remarkable.
the addition to the menagerie was inspired by the rhino Clara
