Osram Pasha moves south-east with his best troops....

News reaches Osram Pasha, the commander of the Begovian forces, about the Wittenberg army crossing the border; he soon is on the march with his best troops ....

he will pick up other troops from garrisons on the way .... 

Duzuli - the assault ....

Wittenberg infantry move up...

into close musket range and exchange fire with the defenders (Begovian vollies are ineffective, the Wittenberg ones cause more casualties)...

The Wittenberg howitzer finally hits something - landing a shell right on top of the Begovian gun killing all the crew...

With the Begovian gun out of action, Wittenberg fusiliers (who had been taking some casualties) move up, as do the jagers...

The Wittenberg infantry assault goes in ....

some Wittenberg infantry are into the outpost, but the Begovians are fighting well and the defence perimeter is holding

Finally some assistance arrives for the outpost, from the garrison at Fardok - some spahi and some provincial cavalry....

fighting continues along the perimeter, but more Wittenberg troops have now crossed the defences...

The Begovian cavalry form up; a squadron of Wittenberg cuirassiers move up to support the uhlans .... 

The Begovian spahi charge, the Uhlans respond....

The Wittenberg infantry are now into the outpost and forcing out the remaining defenders ...

One Begovian infantry unit falls back in reasonable order down the road towards Fardok....

The Begovian spahi have pushed back the Wittenberg uhlans ....

The uhlans push back forcing the spahis back onto their support....

The spahis break and the Begovian cavalry retreat toward Fardok....

Wittenberg has taken the outpost and also the supplies stored there ....

At Duzuli...

 The Wittenberg forces have arrived at the Begovian outpost situated near the small village of Duzuli..

General Waldebeck and staff take position on a small hill to observe the upcoming action ...

The Begovians have manned their defences 

Wittenberg have deployed a howitzer....

and two infantry regiments have moved up ....

with a regiment of uhlans protecting their flank ...

In addition Wittenberg have 4 regiments of infantry and two of cavalry plus artillery held in reserve (hiding off table).  The Begovians have sent for help from the garrison at Fardok.

Begovia (defending Lower Rutenia). RED

• The main body of the Begovian army is in position near the Upper Rutenian border town of Ponzankz; regrouping after a failed attempt to take the town.
• They have garrisons at  Nanankz, Hardoli, Skantanz, Fardok and Pavenik. Also a large outpost at Duzuli on the road from Darkur to Fardok.
• The commander at Skantanz notified of the presence of an approaching Wittenberg troops had taken the bulk of the garrison out to intercept them. The Begovians were severely beaten at Sprengenhof and the remnants fell back to Skantanz.

Wittenberg (invading Lower Rutenia) GREEN

• Count Boritzy's column had crossed into hostile territory at Tantozi. 
• At Springenhof Count Boritzy's column beat the Begovians and advanced to take Skantanz.

• The day after Count Boritzy's column crossed the border, General Waldebeck led the main column to attack the Begovian outpost at Duzuli.

Upper Rutenia  ORANGE

• Their troops are concentrated around the border town of Ponzankz; they have repulsed a Begovian attempt to take the town.

Action at Sprengenhof...

Wittenberg troops have crossed the border at Tantozi into Begovian territory and are heading towards Skantanz ....

Count Boritzy commands the column, it also has some land militia cavalry scouting ahead... 

The scouts spot a column of Begovian troops in the distance advancing towards them.... and report back to Count Boritzy....

The Begovian forces ....

Count Boritzy halts his troops and calls an officers meeting ...

they consider the terrain in front of them and the best way to deploy...

both sides start their deployment...

As the Wittenberg cavalry finish deploying, Hoflers pandours form into line ...

and prepare to engage the advancing Begovian infantry....

The Begovian infantry cross the river, as their cavalry mass on their right flank

Count Boritzy orders the grenadiers to form square, he then leads the rest of the hussars round the flank ...

The action starts with the Wittenberg land militia cavalry clashing with the Begovian cavalry ... 

The Wittenberg land militia cavalry win the melee and push the Begovian cavalry back.......

The land militia cavalry rout their opposition and carry on into the next Begovian cavalry unit ...

Hofler's pandours exchange fire with the Begovian infantry to their front, who come off worse after a couple of vollies and some canister fire from the amusette...

The land militia cavalry win again and pursue the Begovian cavalry, leaving the hussars free to attack the flank of the Begovian infantry...

As the land militia cavalry chase off the Begovian cavalry, the hussars plough into the Begovian infantry routing them and then chase them off the field ....

a very bad day for the Begovians ....
